More about how we started worm composting:

I (Stephen) was living in an apartment building in Guelph, Ontario in 2013 and I contacted a guy who was selling a half pound of compost worms. I was fascinated by the idea of composting indoors with worms and growing vegetables with homemade castings (worm poop).

I made the drive to meet the seller and I had no idea what I was going to get. Luckily, I did get some compost worms, just not the advertised amount. But I was still happy!

I then proceeded to buy a 150 liter plastic bin and dumped about 100 pounds of food waste in it as well as the worms. You can probably guess that I put way too much food in to start and it did not go well!

But I was still hooked and slowly began to learn how to take care of worms and also began using worm castings in the garden and had excellent results.

Fast forward to 2019 and we were fortunate enough to move to Kitchener, ON and started gaining a vision for Mother Worms.

This site launched Spring 2021 and is another step forward to making it easier than ever to start worm composting and using worm castings in Canada.

Thank you for visiting and we wish you health, happiness, and success in your journey!
